10/30/2023 0 Comments Uvi workstation grand piano model d![]() ![]() ![]() I tend to play slow, emotive passages that rely on the character of the instrument. I should mention, although I have to admit I rate playability incredibly high, the instrument has to still sound real to me. My real dream would be for UVI to re-record Model D and expand upon it greatly, because the tone itself is rather phenomenal, something I immediately gel with. Does anyone have experience with both/all three? That said, I think I would kick myself pretty hard if I got it and the Normal preparation (just the basic piano sound) doesn't feel close to the flexibility of specifically Modern U or Ravenscroft. I really like the idea of Augmented Piano a lot, and a lot of the sounds I hear out of it are pretty killer. UVI is currently running a 30% off sale till the end of this weekend, and I've been eyeing both the Key Suite Acoustic and Augmented Piano. ![]() So far all three pianos I have on UVI Workstation feel right (Modern U, Model D, Ravenscroft) more often than not, even if I don't always love their sound or their specific limitations. I own/have owned a bunch of others that I just can't really come to love (Xperimenta Due, NI Noire, VSL Bosendorfer Upright, VSL D-274, Addictive Keys Studio Grand) and it mostly comes down to the way it feels to play or the sound that comes back at me as I play it. Aware of its limited 4 velocity layers, I had kinda wrote it off as being inadequate for what I would want out of a piano for a long time, but I've tried too many and I kept coming back to specifically VI Labs Modern U as playing exactly how I felt a piano should. I picked up UVI Model D a few weeks ago for a ridiculously good deal recently from someone here. ![]()
